Cloudy with a chance of……..
Charlie Brown and Lucy and Linus are lying on the ground, looking up into the sky. Lucy says, “If you use your imagination, you can see lots of things in the cloud formations. What do you think you see, Linus?” Linus responds, “Well, those clouds up there look like the map of the British Honduras on the Caribbean. And that cloud looks a little like the profile of Thomas Eakins, the famous painter and sculptor. And that group of clouds over there gives me the impression of the stoning of Stephen. I can see the Apostle Paul standing here to one side.”
Lucy congratulates him, “Uh huh, that’s very good. What do you see in the clouds, Charlie Brown?” Charlie Brown replies, “Well, I was going to say I saw a ducky and a horsey, but I changed my mind.”
How we accept and view the cloud formation of change in our lives comes down to one thing. Our perspective! We can examine the clouds through the lenses of this world, our circumstances, our emotions or we can stand firmly rooted on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ and filter them through the faithful and loving promises of our Lord.
Romans 8:28; And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, whohave been called according to His purpose.
We know! We don’t have to guess, wish, roll the dice, spit in the wind or wonder. We know that in the good, the bad, the ugly, God is working in those who trust and follow Him. It doesn’t matter what we assume or perceive about those cloud formations our God is doing something good!
Proverbs 3:5; Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
Trusting in the Lord means we have to look at those clouds from His position and not ours. We may look at the clouds and perceive only darkness but our God knows what comes after the clouds move away.
Philippians 4:11-13; I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.
We as the children of God can be content in whatever circumstances because of His strength and His alone. The cloud formations of change have rolled in! What do you see? Do you see horsies, ducks, tigers and bears, oh my? Or do you look at those clouds and see that Our Almighty, Faithful and Loving God is in the clouds and doing something far beyond anything our imaginations could ever fathom? I’m so glad I don’t have to use my imagination!
It may be cloudy right now but I can see the Son!
